Beta Test Prodigy Classic Chat Client!

Well it's been about 4 years since I started this replication of the Prodigy Classic Chat room client. It's about time to find some beta testers and really try to work out all the bugs. This program will only run on XP/2000 and possibly Vista. If we establish a stable version I will send out a mass mail to everyone on the boards.

Once installed, You will want to log in with the "Prodigy ID" which you chose for the forums, as well as the password you use to log in to the forums.

BTW... Did you know that you can log in to the forums by using your Prodigy ID as your username?

To begin chatting... select "Begin Chatting". If it complains that you are not logged in, right click the task tray icon and choose "Sign On". From there you will need to enter your Prodigy ID and password. This should hopefully grant you access and allow you to click Begin Chatting.





* The KEY idea really is to have this program running all the time unobtrusively as a taskbar icon. You should be able to stay logged into a chat room while the icon remains visible. You should also be able to go about your normal computing tasks with out any problem.

The above is extremely important to the success of this application. Please let me know if it works smoothly!

* You can log in using the windows client or the web chat rooms on the forums. So invite your friends to use the web chat rooms if they don't use windows.

* If you change your nickname, the member info will not work.. so try and keep your nickname the same as it is on the forums.

* Buddy list - There is a buddy list, just like a Yahoo / AIM buddy list.

* There will be pop-up alerts for when other people join the room.

* There is an option to have this program load at the start of windows, if you find it annoying select "General Options" and check, then uncheck the box.


That's about all for now. I do hope some of you avid P* lovers will try this out, and provide some feedback for me.

omfg AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!!! I have a strange feeling...we could recreate the entire system as it were in 94-95....with ! rackmount server today....but this is sooo awesome i totally got taken back when it first loaded...if only i could dial up to it lol

This site has made my year, not only a homage to prod classic, but lookalike chat too boot??? OMG! ::::SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE::::

Now if only the BBs worked .... and more people visited this place, I would be beyond thrilled.

It's been years since this name has been used, but somehow, it just fits if it's Prodigy. I sure do miss everybody, let's hope at least a few can reconnect.
